Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur, Waris Olayinka Akinwande, popularly known as Ola of Lagos, has explained why he continues to live in rented apartments despite owning several houses.
Ola of Lagos made this known during a recent appearance on the KK Show, where he spoke about his lifestyle, properties and the reason he chooses to keep paying rent.
The luxury influencer disclosed that he has not spent a night in any of the houses he purchased with his own money.
According to him, living in a house he owns could make him too comfortable and reduce the pressure he puts on himself to continue working and growing his businesses.

He explained that staying in a rented apartment serves as a form of motivation because the financial responsibility of paying rent reminds him that he needs to keep working hard.

Ola also revealed that his annual rent is as high as ₦50 million, despite having properties of his own.
He said he deliberately chooses to maintain the arrangement because the cost of rent pushes him to remain focused on his work instead of becoming too relaxed after acquiring personal properties.
He said: “I have never slept in any house I bought with my own money. If you do, you will become too relaxed. Despite being in a beautiful estate, I still live in rented apartments and pay rent.
“When I pay 50 million naira a year. I use that pain to keep grinding harder.”
The influencer’s approach to wealth comes after a journey that saw him rise from doing menial jobs to becoming a popular luxury and lifestyle personality.
Ola, whose real name is Waris Olayinka Akinwande, reportedly worked as a cleaner in Lagos before gaining recognition through his passion for luxury cars.

He began taking pictures and making videos of expensive cars with his phone and sharing them on social media.
His content gradually attracted attention, eventually helping him build a large audience and secure commercial opportunities.
His popularity grew further after his car-related content received attention from Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut.
Ola later expanded his content beyond cars to include luxury houses, fashion and other high-end products.
He has also ventured into business, with his activities reportedly including automobile-related businesses, car rentals and property.
